Leap Year

 Leap Year

I just  saw a movie few days ago, and I thought it was a good one.
So, I just want to share it on my blog with you guys. The name is called Leap Year
This is a romantic comedy movie from America in 2010.
There are three main characters in this movie.
They are Amy Adams, Matthew Goode and Adam Scott.
Amy Adams is the most famous characters of them.
She was born in Italy, a natural red hair let she looks more enchanting.
I have ever watched a movie called [Julie and Julia], which she is starred in.
Even though the type of her role doesn’t change too much, especially the film, I still like her.

This movie shows us actress Anna (played by Amy Adams) makes a plan to use Ireland tradition
way to purpose her boyfriend who has been fall in love with her for 4 years in a leap day.
Due to the bad weather, she was forced to an island called Dingle.
In there she met a sharp tongue but a soft heart little club’s boss, Declan O'Callaghan (played by Matthew Goode)
With his help Anna star her way to Dublin. But two totally different people also gradually frictions a spark...

Love always make people feel happy. It also can help people break through all the resistances. I found a very interesting thing on the website. A sentence"I Love You." Each single word have the unique meaning for love. I - inject, L- loyal, O- observant, V- valiant, E-enjoyment, Y- yes, O- obligation, U- unison. This is what I LOVE YOU comes from. And I do believe that if two people are meant to be together, eventually they'll find their way back.

Egg Tart

 Dessert --- Egg Tart

Egg tart is one of the delicacies that can be found in most Asian countries, especially in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Egg tart was introduced to Hong Kong as a kind of “dim sum” (snack) during the 1940s. Nowadays, egg tarts come in all kind of flavors such as milk tarts, honey-egg tarts, ginger-flavored egg tarts, chocolate egg tarts, green-tea-flavored egg tarts,or egg tarts with fruits.  Although there are all kinds of egg tarts in the market, I still think that the original flavor egg tart tasted the best.

I am living in Canada right now. It's just so hard to find egg tart in here. Especially in our small town as Halifax. So, I would like to introduce this delicious egg tart recipe to those who has never taste it before and also loves pastries.

Try to bake this for your loved ones and I am sure that it will brighten up their days. Although these are not as good as the ones compared with the bakery shops, but they taste the most delicious because you made them with your heart. It is made with outer crispy crust that is filled with soft, moist egg custard. The preparation time is approximately 2 hours. You don’t really have to be a good cook in order to do this because most of the procedures are simple and easy to follow. I have improved the recipe from time to time and added up some important steps on it.

Also, I found a awesome recipe for making egg tarts. I tired this many times, it was just awesome! Here I want to share with all of you bloggers. When you got free time, please try it to make it for you family!

Vegan

 Vegan

The last time I talked about vegetarian BBQ.
So, this time, I'm gonna talk more deeply in this area.
First of all, I will start with a question. Have you ever heard of vegan?

Veganism is a type of vegetarian diet that excludes meat, eggsdairy products and all other animal-derived ingredients.

Not only this, many vegans also do not eat foods that are processed using animal products, such as refined white sugar and some wines.
Honey, because it's made by bees. Most vegans also avoid the use of all products tested on animals, as well as animal-derived non-food products, such as leather, fur and wool.Some people might think it is OK to be a vegetarian.
But it is also too rigor for human to eat things so limited.
No meat, no eggs, even no dairy product! How can human alive in the world?
So, here comes a dispute. To be a Veganism, Good or Bad?

Eating healthy can help people get far away from disease. According to the research, most Americans of all ages eat fewer than the recommended number of servings of grain products, vegetables, and fruits, even though consumption of these foods is associated with a substantially lower risk for many chronic diseases, including certain types of cancer."
Research has shown that people who follow a vegetarian diet are at a lower risk for obesity, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, renal disease, some cancers and gallstones.

However, being vegan is not all good. if you are not careful, being a vegan can result in several nutrient deficiencies.
We knew that vegan does not eat any animal product. So, this can make it more difficult for people to get nutrients such as protein, as well as calcium and vitamin D.
Especially that vitamin B-12 is found exclusively in animal-based foods, so people need to include a supplement or fortified foods to ensure you do not develop B-12 deficiency.

That's all the information that I want to share with you guys for today.
Like I just mentioned. To be a vegan have either good way and bad way.
Personally, I suggest people eat healthy.
The goal for any diet is to consume a balance of foods that provide your body with all of the nutrients that it needs to function optimally.

Multicultural Night

 Mulitcultural Night

I was the person that will never ever participate university activities. However, this year, by some special reason. I went to the event called Multicultural night in my university. This could be the most interesting event of the year at the Mount Saint Vincent University. The theme this year was “one world, let's come together”. This was my first year going to it, and I had a BLAST!

invitation card & ticket

The event was in the MPR (Multi-Purpose Room). The students who went to the party looked so different, they all dressed up. Everybody looks gorgeous. Some of them who wear the close can represent their country's culture characteristic. It was grab an eye. The meeting room was very pretty and it was all fine decorated in all the different flags. The dining-table shone with candles, dim light. We sat down with the joyful music.

It was really cool because there was 4 different food stations set up: Korea, Africa, Mexico, and Mediterranean. Each one was set up like a buffet and had a couple different meal options at each one. The plates they gave you were smaller, so that you could actually taste something from all. It was cool seeing what people ate from different parts of the world and how it differed from how I normally eat.

After dinner, there were 13 performances from cultures all over the world – including our lovely own east coast culture. There was some signing, dancing (hip-hop & traditional), a motivational speaker & drumming. And then the fun kept going! The after party took place in Vinnie’s, our own campus pub.

With all the violence and war in the world these days, it was really awesome to see everyone together in one big room like a big family and celebrate unity at the Mount. At the Mount we have students from over 60 different countries. And it doesn’t matter what country you’re from, what language you speak or who you are; because when you’re at the Mount: your family & it feels like home.

At the end , I have to say that it was really worth went to this big fun party.  I see something new and interesting during the busy study period at the university. I am gonna come to this event next year for sure to feel the different feeling.

Hallowen Party in 2012

Crazy Halloween

When I  see the some of the big or small  pumpkins in front of the house. I realized that the yearly Halloween is coming. It was a really fun holiday for everybody. This year, I want to spend a local Halloween in Canada. Not only to feel the different culture, but also to enjoy the crazy happy time with my friends. To keep some of the fun memories for my second Halloween in Canada.

So, last weekend I went to the Halloween Party in the Reflection night club with my friends. I bought a costume which was a policewoman. It was a really cool dress up.  I loved it so much! And when I walk through the night club, it was dressed up too. the whole of the  ghost decorations with the blue lights. It was just amazing...

With my friends, had fun there!

Fancy Veggies

At the beginning of this blog, I wanna start with a question.
     Are you a Vegetarian ?
          Answer: Yes , I am.
      No I'm not.

I think Vegetarian, this word is not that unfamiliar.
On the tablea women said a statement "I am vegetarian".
Also, this has won't let a person storm in a teacup. In many of the world's developed countries, women vegetarian ratio as high as 10%. Vegetarian has become a kind of fashion.
Vegetarian, commonly known as only eat vegetables and don't eat animal meat person.
They generally can eat egg and dairy products.
Vegetarian, showed a return to nature, return to health.
It protect the earth ecological environment for all time cultural concept.

Here I have a little funny store it is about my a Vegetarian things happened in my family.
I was not a vegetarian, but also, I was not a big fan for meat. However, my Mom watched a TV show which was a senior dietitian encourage people to eating all the veggies. He told everything good about being an vegetarian. Since Mom watched that TV show, she was treating my Dad and me like a little rabbit, we start our "Veggie Life "for 3 month.  And there was no meat dishes at all...

What I found during this vegetarian period. We were eating in  a really healthy way.
I did not against eating veggies, but without any meat! I think people are omnivorous animal. Their body might need some of the things to support the normal life. I still encourage people eating most veggies in their life because it was just healthy. But, they still could have meat in their life, maybe just not for the dinner time.

Eating healthy, living healthy.
That's what I wanna say to everybody.

I still hope: when we are old, we still have a healthy body to do what we want to do.

Co-op Ende Day

Today I finished my first co-op term. I did my first co-op at a hotel called the Halliburton Hotel which was located in downtown Halifax. Because my major is Tourism and Hospitality, so it is mandatory to do the co-op.

I never did any job before even in China, my hometown. So, this is my real first job.  I find my job which was housekeeping. It's been so long. I started my work at May 24th, and it ended today. I just can not believe this happened so fast. It is like almost five months gone. And I am leaving today. I mean I did not feel sad or anything, but still, a little bit can't bear to part...

At the end of my working day, my boss Mr. Rob said to me: "Jennifer, it was nice to have you.
Thanks for all the hard working during the whole summer."
What I thought, it was nice to have my real first working experiences in the Halliburton Hotel.
I appreciated the time that I spend in here. I learned a lot, and I really do.
